The news that flashes to us from around the world with intensity is both amazing and a burden. The natural disasters, political and social unrest on a global scale is overwhelming on a daily basis. Add to that, the cacophony of commercials shouting at you and unrelenting ads flashing on the side of the computer screen. Then there is news in your own corner of the world; your workplace, the Covid economy, your circle of loved ones and on it goes filling your mind with concerns of the world and leaving you mentally overstimulated.

Have you ever had one of these nights? I was up at 3:00 am with a bunch of ‘little’ things marching through my pre-slumber mind I couldn’t tune out. As I lay there starting to fall asleep, my brain hit replay and it started all over again. I got out of bed, went to the living room and sat in the dark. After a while, I spilled my thoughts to the Lord. It was a relief to share my concerns. He is a great listener.

I awoke later that morning with the verse, ‘let not your hearts be troubled,’ filling my mind and giving me peace. If you are having turbulent thoughts in these Covid times, turn off your electronics, direct your thoughts to the beauty of His creation that declares His righteousness and spend time in His presence. He is there; He hears us.

“But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.” Psalm 66:19 (ESV)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27 (ESV)

Thanks for stopping by; blessings to you.
