One Step at a Time: goal setting

Summer is winding down. Some of the flowers in my yard are drying up already and the mums are getting ready to burst forth in beautiful color. Did you do the things you set out to do at the beginning of this season? Were you able to accomplish the goals that you dreamed of?

In those slow moments and in between sips of morning coffee, we can think of the list of things we want to do, but then there is the actual doing that involves time, energy, materials, money perhaps and then months go by and we're suddenly looking back saying where did the time go?

I started a schedule of: morning alarm, drink water, take walk, come back home for fresh brewed coffee and read for an hour, write for an hour, work on photos for an hour, and other projects for another hour. It works when I make it work. No one else is standing over me telling me what I need to be doing in order to reach the goal. Having a goal in mind plays a big part of keeping a schedule for what you want to accomplish.

Do you have a goal to read the scriptures; exercise; save toward a special purchase? Now is the time to set attainable goals to walk each day in obedience toward those goals and see the accomplishment at the end of the road.

Just like the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, take some prayerful time today to ask the LORD to direct you on setting a goal. One goal at a time.

The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. (Proverbs 21:5, English Standard Version)

Have a blessed day.
