There’ll Never Be Another You!

Have you ever heard of The Seekers? I just watched a documentary about them, a harmonious Pop band from Australia that achieved major chart and sales success in both the United Kingdom and the United States in the ‘60’s. They went from playing gigs around Melbourne to topping the international charts. Quite a feat for a time before the internet!

When they were ready to sign their second contract, Judith Durham, quit the band to go solo. Looking back at those years, she said she was conscientious about her weight and at times, felt uncomfortable. Sometimes in life, we hold ourselves back by the weight of our own baggage.

I, like many women I’ve spoken to, struggled with low self-esteem for many years. Just when I thought I was managing or getting over it, the ugly head of inferiority would raise its head. The world says in order to overcome low self-esteem, don’t compare yourself to others and make a list of attributes you love about you, among other selfie-type things. But, in the end, it’s more than an exercise in staring in the mirror and telling yourself you are OK.

When we were children, we learned that ‘every snowflake is different.’ I, being the inquisitive type of child, looked at snowflakes many times on my mittens and sure enough, they were sometimes slightly different and at other times, wildly different. They definitely weren’t the same. Just like us, the conditions the little droplet of water comes through, play an important role in its final beauty. To grow out of baggage, you need to spend time finding out how the Master Artist sees you.

God told Abram to look up at the heavens and number the stars, if he was able to count them. Of course, he wasn’t able to. Each star is different and unique in the vast universe. And each human being is unique and different out of approximately 7.8 billion humans on the earth. You are one-of-a-kind! Think on that for a moment. You, with your talents, abilities, experiences, knowledge, sensitivities all rolled into the distinctive person you are.

Get excited about sharing those talents to the glory of God. You are loved.

“There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.” 1Corinthians 15:41 (ESV)

“...Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”

Isaiah 43:1 (ESV)

“Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you….” Isaiah 43:4 (ESV)

Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to stop in.
